International Women's Day

We all know that YPH is a club going places. Many things are improving week by week. One of those is the increasing numbers of women who are joining the YPH ranks. Fabulous to see and as our website states, we are stronger together.

It's very apt on International Women's Day to see this brilliant article from our amazing Ladies' Club Captains, Deanna and Dee. Here are their words.

To all our Postal Ladies (and men, but especially our ladies)--Happy International Women's Day! We're SO proud of of our fellow female harriers and thought today would be a great time to acknowledge their incredible achievements.

In just a few short months, our ladies have truly been dominating! Before January was out, we had Danielle Gordon conquering Brass Monkey for the first time in an awe-inspiring 1:46:26, and Jo Barrett smashing the Spine Race with grit and grace in equal measure. Helena Senior is now having to re-evaluate her personal goals for the year, as she's already cracked her sub-30 parkrun, and Lisa Ellwood continued to sneakily PB at parkrun and at the XC series.

Melissa Partridge came back strong after the arrival of wee Reid and, alongside Heather Bulmer and Jeanne Kirby, has formed an army of steadfast supporters when not out on the track. Dee Bouderba continues to personify a Johnny Cash song--steady like a train, sharp like a razor--with ultra after ultra after ultra, while Deanna Dawkins edges closer and closer to that sub 25 parkrun. And speaking of parkrun, who else was over the moon to see the beautiful bride-to-be Lucy Turner make headlines?!

As if all that isn't exciting enough, we've also welcomed dark horse Hannah Smithson to the YPH vest--and girl--is she going to be one to watch. There's great things to come from our newest harrier, and no doubt from the other future female harriers as well.

Why? Because we're York Postal Harriers. We run together. We train together. We laugh and we applaud each other together. Together, we ARE stronger. And if there's any doubt, simply re-read the above post.

Ladies, thank you for being a part of the YPH tribe. Each and every one you brings something unique to the table that makes us a better, more balanced club. We can't wait to see where the year ahead takes us--because there isn't a doubt in our mind that it's going to be nothing short of spectacular.

Your Ladies' Co-Captains,

Deanna and Dee
