In a few words, girl power.
Yep, you can forget the Spice Girls, All Saints and the rest. We have our own band. Step forward Hannah, Katie, Deanna, Helena and Mel. They trained like Trojans last night. Pain on top of pain ready for the first race in the summer season. I’m so excited for our club to hopefully sustain a ladies team for the entire season. To do this we need to call on all our fantastic ladies. You know who you are. For those I have not seen in a while, I hope you are happy and healthy. Your club needs you.
As for the boys, I’d like to say you can forget Take That, the Backstreet Boys and the rest but I’d be telling a fib. Nevertheless we trained hard last night while Mark kept time and encouraged us with coaching pearls of wisdom. Our natural athletics track was splendid. The fragrant whiff of an exotic blend kept us mellow as we ran lots and lots of timed intervals at your faster than fastest pace. For me, structured training is bang on. I know it is not for everyone and Mark always has options to help you if you don’t fancy or can’t do the fast stuff. He keeps us all running in the same location so whether you are having a social one or pushing to the limit, we are together.
Baby Reid was on the beer last night. The lovely bouncing bundle of fun was jumping out of Melissa’s arms. He was loving it. As were the rest of the club. Just happy to be together. A couple of drinks, a pizza and lots of lovely chat.
Good look to Billy this weekend. He has got himself in great nick to try and qualify for a GB 🇬🇧 vest in the over 60s category. He needs to do a sub 3hour marathon in Brighton. C’mon Billy! There is a collection of runners in the Vale of York 10 miler this weekend including Glynn and Mel. If you have nothing planned, come down and cheer us on.
Take care, run happy, be happy.
